Product review - propolis

US$11.69

I have been working very long hours for the last three weeks, averaging 12-14 hours including quite a few hours on weekends. Didn't sleep much and hence,  immunity was low.

Before long, I felt the tingling of the throat  two Saturdays ago and decided to quickly apply three drops of propolis to water and drank it. By night, the sore throat had disappeared but I wasn't sure if if was all propolis' merit.

That night, I slept late again and it was overall very wakeful as baby woke up a few times too. So by Sunday, I felt the flu coming after sneezing a few times. Again, I added a few drops of propolis and miraculously the flu didn't quite hit.

Being quite skeptical, I was not sure if I could conclude if propolis was indeed so powerful. Last Saturday night, I again felt the flu coming and it felt like a big one was coming. Instead of popping the usual Panadol flu, I decided to take a leap of faith and use three drops of propolis on Sat evening and three more on Sunday. Surprisingly the flu didn't hit after all.

While three times can't count as any scientific evidence or statistically significant, I would say that I am quite sold. This is especially when I didn't apply the full dosage of what is recommended on the bottle - I just used three drops a day.

I will continue to test the propolis for effects whenever a sore throat or flu threatens.

P.s. I am no doctor so this represents my own views and experience. If you have any allergies to bees or honey products, this is probably not for you. Also, while some people take it regularly for prevention, I am only taking it as and when the need arises as I believe that too much of anything is not going to be good.
